Design a Button

Kettering University hosts an event in Detroit each year called the First World Championships, where they invite local high schools’ Robotics teams to compete for prizes and bragging rights. One of the highlights for the students are the buttons they get to take home, and for this year’s event, they got to design them themselves via a browser-based web app at an iPad kiosk. They were able to pick from three pre-made Kettering button templates, select a background color, add their team name in one of three fonts, and add as many emoji as they would like. The text and emoji could be scaled and rotated to their liking, and when they were finished designing, they’d print the button right from a printer connected to the kiosk. The app was so popular that it nearly froze trying to keep up with demand. Agency: 24G
